      Aufgaben und Einsatzfelder

      Job description

      • Sustainable geoscience:

The candidate will develop a new line of research within the field of sustainable geoscience focused on, for example, the energy transition (e.g. geothermal energy, hydro energy, wind energy), carbon capture and storage, and/or sustainable development or extraction of Earth’s resources (e.g. minerals, precious metals, water). The position involves teaching on topics concerned with sustainability from a geoscience perspective at the BSc and MSc level, and supervision of BSc and MSc research projects. For further information contact Prof. dr W.P. Schellart (

      • Marine geology:

The candidate will further develop Marine Geology research in the Marine Geology & Climate Modeling group and build bridges with other lines of research within and outside of our Department. Research in this group is focussed on both modern and past physical/chemical processes and mechanisms that lead to deposition of marine sediments, with a strong emphasis on the reconstruction and understanding of changes of the past marine environment. Sediments, retrieved during sea-going expeditions, are analysed using a variety of physical, geochemical and (paleo)biological methods, generating a broad suite of proxies that are used to reconstruct paleoclimatic and paleo-oceanographic processes. See a more detailed description at and do not hesitate to contact Prof. dr D.M. Roche (
