Beschreibung

The position will be part of the Institute of Geosciences, which is equipped with state-of-the-art analytical, experimental and modelling research facilities. The Institute of Geosciences has research strengths in paleoclimate and dynamics of the solid Earth with a particular focus on magmatic systems. It leads the “Terrestrial Magmatic Systems” (TeMaS) collaborate research center with colleagues from Frankfurt, Heidelberg and Munich, which aims to understand magmatic processes from the mantle to the atmosphere, combining research expertise from experimental petrology to atmospheric physics. It is also part of the “Multiscale Modelling Mainz” research center (M3ODEL) which brings together researchers from different disciplines to develop and apply new modelling techniques to understand multiscale processes. The Max Planck Institute for Chemistry (with a focus on atmospheric and climate chemistry), and the Institute for Geothermal Energy Management (IGEM) are also affiliated with JGU. Collaborations within TeMaS, M3ODEL, IGEM, and the Max Planck Graduate Center are possible and highly desired. JGU also hosts the Climate & Resources Lab of the FORTHEM Alliance, which provides opportunities for innovative blended co-education with 8 European partner institutions.
