Senior researcher position (Akademischer Rat/Rätin auf Zeit)
Aufgaben und Einsatzfelder
We are looking for a highly motivated early career scientist with own ideas to expand our current research activities in the group of Applied Geology at Erlangen. Working tasks of this position combine 5 hours per week of teaching with own research in stable isotope applications, hydro(geo)logy, biogeochemical cycles, water resources and/or environmental sciences. Our group offers excellent facilities for stable isotope analyses, water chemistry and hydrogeology. We encourage to set up an own research group with publishing and application for external funding. The work also includes co-supervision of PhD, Master and Bachelor students. Work towards a Habilitation degree is also possible and will receive full support by our research group.
Duration of the contract is up to 6 years with an initial appointment of 3 years. A successful Habilitation can provide the possibility for a further extension.
Kenntnisse und Fähigkeiten
Candidate profile:
- A recognized PhD degree
- EU Citizenship
- A reasonable command of German language is important for teaching
- Fields of expertise should be within Natural Sciences
- Interest in geochemistry, biology and chemistry or physics
- Willingness to carry out field- and laboratory work
- Willingness to teach and supervise students with help by our group
- Ability to independently develop and perform experimental approaches
- Enthusiasm for scientific writing in English
- Scientific results are expected to be published in international journals and the candidate should also present results on conferences.
- A valid EU driver´s licence (B) would be an advantage
- Some previous post-doctoral experience would be an asset

We envisage a starting date in March 2024. The salary for the position is A13 100 % (full time, non-tenure track) for an initial duration of 3 year with a possibility of extension. The position covers health and social security benefits.
